As a business strategist serving a variety of industries, Julia Cominos has experience advising executives on global market expansion, cash-flow optimization, and capital-investment planning. The daughter of Salinas, California, attorney Theodore “Ted” H. Cominos, Julia is proud of her father’s recent recognition by the Monterey County Bar Association (MCBA) for his distinguished career.
Honored by the MCBA at its 2019 Spring Bench Bar event, Ted Cominos has been representing clients in the Salinas area for more than 65 years. Since his admittance to the State Bar of California in 1952, his bar number of 22967 has remained lower than any other Monterey County attorney.
Before he launched his legal career in the 1950s, Cominos worked at the family business, a Salinas hotel that bore the family name formerly located on Main Street's 100 block. As a teenager, he adopted a strong work ethic and learned to perform the duties of elevator operator, bellboy, busboy, and garageman at the historic hotel.
Prior to its demolishment after it sustained damage in a 1989 earthquake, the hotel was a prime destination for US presidents and other well-known visitors, such as John Steinbeck.
