BMX Exhibition
|
A traveling performance troupe known for its acrobatics, Cirque du Soleil recently introduced a new risky feat to enthrall audiences. In a new show called Volta, the ensemble combines its usual gravity-defying trampolinists and gymnasts with the exhilarating extreme sport of BMX.
Written by Bastien Alexandre, Volta’s script follows a blue-haired character named Waz on a journey of self-discovery. With a story over two hours long, the show concludes with a group of BMX bikers zigzagging around the stage and driving into the air on transparent polycarbonate ramps. During the eight-minute finale, the bikes zoom just a few feet from the front row, which is separated from the stage by a net for audience safety.
